Jehovah Jireh Children’s Home

It is a private home located in the Chamgamwe section of Mombasa, Kenya. Without government assistance Ruth and her family provide a safe residence for over 25 children.  Many of the children have been affected by the HIV/AIDS virus by either becoming orphans or by contracting the virus. The Kenya Sistahs provide support by donations and educational assistance. We visited the home in 2005 and 2007.

The Shanzu Transitional Workshop for Disabled Women

It is a program established in 1992 to teach girls with physical, hearing or speech challenges the necessary skills to earn an independent living.  Each girl learns sewing and tailoring skills to earn a certificate. The Kenya Sistahs support the center by providing sewing machines, kikoy cloth, personal care items and other donations.  In 2007 a mango tree was planted to honor the Kenya Sistahs.

Karai Children's Home

It is located in Karai, Kenya (North of Nairobi) established by a group of women to help orphaned and disadvantaged children in the area.  Today it is a school and home for many children. The Kenya Sistahs support the home by providing donations.   They have also carried dolls and laptops to the home from other American based groups including the National Council of Negro Women - Greater Boston Section.
